Orchid Fever

Dinosaur for kids, orchids for grown-ups At a big orchids show like this, it feels like there is something for everyone. The dinosaurs and a few stuffed animals appealed to kids. For the orchid loving adults, there were enough orchids and large displays to wear out even the most determined photographer.

We came home with more photos than any sane person should put on one web page!

You may be content to view the thumbnails, but if your eyes are orchid hungry and your internet connection is fast, be sure to check out the links to larger photos below. Then move on to page 2 for even more photos.

Ventura Farms exhibited more orchids than we could see from one vantage point This is just a microscopic portion of the exhibit created by Ventura Farms. Small wonder they won several awards. It took us a long time to walk around the exhibit. Best description for this display: way over the top, tastefully done. display bigger photo (700x493).

A cascade of phalaenopsis orchidsMost of the orchids in this exhibit had long, arching spikes - impossible to show in a thumbnail. Best description I can think of: orchid waterfalls. To see what I mean, display bigger photo (500x527).

Miltonia - wish we could grow this! Based on the growing conditions required, we believe we could never keep any miltonia alive. But, if we could, this miltonia would be the one I'd want. display bigger photo (500x549).
